Recent Versed Victims Needed
If you are the recent victim of a "bad trip" on the diabolical drug Versed/Midazolam, like in the last year or so, PLEASE contact me. There is something in the works regarding possibly getting a class action suit. Two weeks ago I had orthopedic surgery scheduled at a Trauma 1 teaching hospital. I had talked with my surgeon about my previous 2 bad experiences with Versed and asked him to support me as anesthesia should be a spinal with Propofol. When I mentioned to the anesthesiologist that I had twice experienced severe, numerous side effects from Versed and did not wish to receive it, he argued with me for 10 minutes that my problems were more probably caused by the Propofol. I respectfully said that may be true for others but I had received Propogol many times with no problems, but when combined with Versed, I had major problems.
ReplyDeleteThen the OR punishment began. After I received my spinal, the nurse spread my legs without a word to give me a foley. The other nurse asked her to help her find a file so I was left in that position, unable to close my legs due to spinal, naked because the nurse had removed my gown. During those 5 minutes 4 male medical personnel walked past me. She then returned and completed the foley. Two male staff came over to move me onto my side and begin positioning me with pads and sponges. Again totally nude. Then I smelled and felt my body being scrubbed and then plastic wrapped for surgery. At this point I wondered if this was to be an awake hip replacement and no one told me, if they forgot I didn’t have Versed and it was their protocol not to start Propofol until after patient is scrubbed and wrapped (but not draped) or was I being punished for refusing the Versed? Luckily the anesthesiologist must have started the Propofol at that point because I don’t remember anything else. This was my fifth orthopedic surgery and I always received the Propofol prior to the foley and positioning. I know I will never step foot in that hospital again. Any thoughts?
