Here is an article about changes in mental accuity post op. It doesn't differentiate between conscious sedation alone, general anesthetic or any combination, so we don't know, but it IS "fascinating" as the author states. Look at how high the numbers are! Funny I don't remember my informed consent saying anything about this either. I wasn't going to HAVE ga or sedation, and the informed consent didn't really have one single piece of information on it, but it IS required by law to have this information... I think that nearly 10% is a large enough risk factor to be told that you may never be the same again mentally! Anybody out there sign an "informed consent" which deals with your return to normal mental function afterwards, or is this a secret too?
