A Post From 2008

4 years ago this person, not me by the way, posted this plaintive missive.  How many of us have suffered the same kind of thing caused by this absolute brain poison called Versed?  Yet, it's still used like this poster describes.  Of note, this person didn't give permission for Versed, just like lots of us, including me.  They also received enormous amounts of it.  To what purpose was this patient given this much Versed in such a short time-frame?  This kind of abuse needs to stop.  Versed is a very bad drug with lots of "forever" side effect, or effects, depending on your point of view.

Here's the link;  Midazolam - Versed? Can it have permanent side effects?

Here's the post;  "Dosage: 11-12 mg of Midazolam over about a 10 minute time frame through an IV line for a medical procedure. 2mg each 1-3 mintues until sleeping. (Sleeping confirmed by the doctor) I also remember not being able to stay awake anymore and could not fight the urge to sleep. My legs felt really heavy when I mentally or physically woke 40 min later like being drunk.

My question is can this be a permanent mental side effect...
Difficulty analyzing things or understanding. Just certain things, not noticed until I stumble on them. Some things that should be normal just doesn't process as well anymore, things that I have discussed with people easily before receiving Midazolam. It was super easy to think and analyze on all subjects but now some are very difficult. It is affecting my ability to work/business.

Even after I understand the subject it is still difficult to understand it when think about it. Some really simple thoughts are very difficult. The part that is difficult is when I need to come up with new creative options on subjects.

Example that happened the other day... A store is generating 3 times the business in almost the same location but new building, what are the possible reasons. This is where my mind goes kind of blank and it never used to before the drug. Analyzing things like this. It's very confusing to me right now. And I know all the answers to this question. How can something be confusing when I already know why? I had to compare other stores from the company in size and location, get customer feedback for the new and old store location. If you ask and I have to pull it out of my head it's confusing right now even though I just said it. Processing that though of understanding it is hard. It took me 15 minutes to come up with these answers and before it would only take 1 second before the drug. I am not currently on any other mental medication. I haven't suffered from anxiety before. I don't believe this is anxiety now but I was also drugged against my will, so that it self can be pretty disturbing.

It was over a month already. First I thought the drug didn't wear off yet, then maybe not enough sleep, then maybe I wasn't eating enough. Now I'm wondering if it could be a permanent side effect? My job is to analyze things because that used to come so naturally for me. It's not so easy anymore.

From what my chart said my oxygen levels were normal through the whole procedure. My blood pressure did drop near or more -20 points both top and bottom numbers. The drug put me mentally out or physically to sleep for about 40 minutes.

Could the drug still be wearing off after 40 something days? If I see a doctor about side effects what kind would I see? Neuro, Phsyc, ect...?"

Why is the medical profession doing this to us?  I am faced with hysterical and supposedly "educated" people who inject this drug into trusting people, denying that any of this stuff outlined above can happen.  Apparently we patients are all just mental deviants waiting for an opportunity to blame all of our woes on this one particular drug, Versed.  So why are WE doing this?   What might that nefarious reason be, to single out Versed?

Medical workers deny everything because they already know that Versed causes brain damage, and the drug pushers want us to be brain damaged for the period of time that we are in their care.  They don't give a good God Damn if it causes permanent harm.  WE are not the ones with a mental defect that prevents us from properly identifying the culprit.  Medical workers are the ones with the problem!  In the face of all these complaints about Versed and/or the proper consenting of patients to use this drug,  medical workers are continuing to use it, making up excuses and becoming IRATE at the merest suggestion that this drug is bad.  How many more of these complaints does the medical profession NEED in order to stop causing harm?

The Health Care Bubble

I have mentioned several times on this blog that health care is going to be the next bubble that bursts.  We just don't need 18+ people doing those "minor variations of the same job" that I have previously spoken of.  We don't need crna's for minor sedation, as if there's anything minor about the nasty sedation!  (More about that in a minute.)  We don't need crna's with there astronomical salaries along with the REAL anesthesiologists.  Why can't one person do a job any more?  It's not like we save one single penny having all these uppity mid level people!  We sure as Hell don't need a surgeon and a PA's salary to pay, now do we?  What do all those nurses do in the OR?  Do they not hand the surgeon instruments etc?  So what the Hell is a PA doing in there?  Needless expense.  We don't need all those people it's a waste of money.

Sedation costs a fortune.  It's unnecessary, needless and completely superfluous.  Nobody (almost) needs any such thing.  It's a con game by medical professionals and treatment centers to maximise profit, and make the employees jobs easier.  There is absolutely no excuse for spending billions of dollars a year on sedation and all the accompanying expense.  None.  If you are reading this and want your brain fried and your IQ taken down 50 points with sedation, then you can pay for it out of your own pocket just like you do at the dentist.  Why should *I* subsidize something as ridiculous as Versed?  IT'S A WASTE OF HEALTH CARE MONEY!  (Plus this poison is actually HARMFUL!)

Now then, you know how *I* feel about the situation, here's a doctor who feels the same way.  The health care bubble that we all need in order to bring this so-called health care back in line with the rest of us mortals should burst as soon as possible.  Don't these people get it?  Nobody can afford them any more.  Not even the federal government can afford the absurd cost of medicine.  Do you think that there will be no end to the money that it costs for routine maintenance of the human body?  Think again!

Here's the article, once again snagged from Dr Kevin's blog;  Our medical-industrial system is long overdue for a real shakeup  Surprise surprise, it's not just us "tin-foil hat" people that recognise the reality of the situation.

Sign The Petition

There is a petition going around about patients having free access to their medical records, whether or not the doctors think we can handle what's in them.  We pay for our health care, including what the medical (ahem) professionals write in our charts with sky high insurance premiums or price gouging medical bills.  It's our chart and we should see it.  If nothing else but to correct the blatherings of whatever "professional" has written stupid or degrading things in it.

There are laws which say that we are allowed complete and total access to our medical records, and we are allowed to add rebuttals to the charting, but so far it seems that the only people who have complete and total access are drug reps. and insurance companies.  We need to "take back" our health care and this petition is a good start.

This is a Good Post!

I found this one on Colonoscopy Sedation Without Versed : Hospital Soup Hospital Ratings & Reviews Medical Jobs Free Health Care Information  This site has hundreds of people commenting!  It's amazing how much damage is being done to patients with Versed!  How can medical people tell us, with a straight face, that Versed is a wonder drug?  That nobody has never ever had a problem with it.  Except for the part where medical people try to blame the PATIENT for the reaction to Versed...  It would not have affected us that way, if we were NORMAL.  So which is it?  Is it a good drug with zero side effects?  Or is it a drug with significant side effects which can be dismissed because the patient is some kind of sub standard humanoid?  Anyway, here is the post I like so well.  There are many more...

Colonoscopy Sedation Without Versed pharm says: "It’s great that medical practitioners comment on this forum; but one thing strikes me (as a scientist and as a clinician): a significant number of patients have a traumatic experience with Versed (midazolam)..this is evident by the comments here and by the thousand or so midazolam horror stories on askapatient. If patients weren’t having awful experiences with Versed, then why would they bother to share their stories? Obviously, something is wrong with this drug and with the way that it’s given so casually; usually without any mention of it’s amnestic qualities….this isn’t informed consent, it’s patient abuse. Any patient receivng Versed should be told in clear language: “this drug is being given to make you forget” not “Versed is going to make you relaxed and comfy”. Anesthesia providers need to step up and obtain informed consent (telling the patient the truth); anesthesia is supposed to be the practice of medicine not nursing and it’s a physician’s responsibility to inform the patient of why they are actually getting a particular drug. There is a serious problem with the way Versed is being used today; I never had an opinion on this matter until a number of patients complained about the lingering amnesia after receiving Versed; and they were never told of the drug’s amnestic effects. I just spoke with a tearful patient who received Versed/fentanyl for a colonoscopy that I had recommended……she seems to have developed PTSD-like symptoms and significant memory impairment 2 full weeks after receiving the drug (bad enough to cause her to miss work). There is little question that her symptoms started immediately after receiving Versed. The GI doctor only says: “you signed a blanket consent for sedation”. Did I mention that this patient is a physician? When reminded that Versed is given for it’s amnestic effects and when informed that a significant number of patients report adverse effects from receiving this drug, NONE of my physician friends would agree to personally receiving this drug. NONE."

Not To Brag ...

I have become an IQ snob since my brain was vandalized by a cretin with a syringe full of Versed.  I said NO but this mental midget crna went right on ahead anyway, because he thought my brain was expendable and that he has infinite wisdom.  You medical people should know by now that IQ is an inherited trait.  Inherited from the mother according to those pesky scientific studies that I like so well.  My biological daughter, a 13 year old freshman at a prep school got a President's Award!  She's a straight A student, that's a 4.0 grade average for you medical people.  News flash!  She will never receive Versed for any reason.  She doesn't need her MENSA qualified brain tampered with by the likes of the medical people who come here to (try to) disparage my intelligence!

I would trust my 13 year old daughter to give me anesthesia with a couple of WEEKS of job training before I would trust one of these arrogant little anesthesia nurses who think they are just the smartest people on earth!  I wouldn't brag like this, but I'm sick and tired of having medical people pretend that they have a brain that is anywhere near what mine is!  I deeply resent the brain damage that was deliberately done to me by a moron in a smock with a little name tag.  Medical people there are very few of you who can compete with me in the IQ department.  (even now)  Quit acting like you can.  Stop VANDALIZING every ones brain!  A little respect for your betters in the intelligence department is in order.  Actually a little respect for ANYBODIES brain is in order.  Most of us like the way our brains, memories and emotions work and we don't need this messed with for the convenience of some anesthesia providing hireling.

For those who may be reading this that are in the anesthesia business and actually have half a brain I apologise.  I KNOW that you are not using Versed indiscriminately.  I'm sorry that your co workers are not as bright as you are, and it is those people who can't seem to do their job without poisoning their patients that I'm speaking of here.

eHow on Colonoscopy

I found this to be an interesting article.  What Are the Dangers of Colonoscopy? | eHow.com  Most of the people *I* know had a problem with Versed for a colonoscopy.  This simple screening procedure is leaving a trail of broken humans in its wake.  The docs just LOVE to shoot up innocent, trusting patients with this drug, without informed consent as to Versed's purpose and it's serious side effects.  This article also talks about the physical problems with colonoscopies, up to and including death.  It's worth reading, especially for those of us who have had a problem, not only with Versed, but with willfully obtuse medical people who refuse to see the truth about Versed even when it becomes patently obvious.  This drug is bad.

Here are some quotes from the article;

"...over-zealous practitioners may fail to communicate the potential dangers of the procedure to a patient at any time prior to the procedure and certainly inadequately beforehand for the patient to make a fully informed decision on whether or not those risks are acceptable."  (This is certainly true for their "consent" for an amnesia and patient control drug like Versed!)

"Identified dangers of the colonoscopy procedure itself include reactions to the sedatives and-or narcotics administered potentially leading to adverse respiratory and-or cardiac events, gastrointestinal perforation, rupture of the spleen, acute anemia, hemorrhaging, stroke, and gastrointestinal burn."  (Uhuh, you read that right!  "reactions to the SEDATIVES" potentially lead to these other adverse events!)

"Additionally, one of the medications given, Versed, is given to induce amnesia of the procedure itself in the patient. Some patients have reported resultant memory problems for months and even years after a colonoscopy procedure. Some patients have also reported anxiety and mood issues after taking Versed."  (The best part of this article is that it gives weight to what we patients already know;  Versed is a horrible drug with severe and long lasting side effects.)

Law and Order Episode

I love Law and Order, the TV series.  Today they ran one of the SVU episodes which featured Versed as an assault/murder drug.  The episode is entitled "Serendipity" and is episode 5, from season 5.  They talked about the victim being placed unlawfully under the influence of Versed, cognizant of what was happening and helpless to do anything about it.  Sound familiar?  You KNOW the drug is bad when it makes periodic appearances on a show such as this!  When I see some of the other episodes that mention Versed as a drug used in sexual attacks I will jot them down here on the blog so that you can be on the lookout for them.  Another one of them mentions "Dazzle" being used in a sexual assault ...  Dazzle being Midazolam/Versed, just so medical people can't try to weasel out of this by claiming "dazzle" isn't Versed.  Anyway, I will identify those additional "Versed" episodes for you as they come up..
